Hello, today marks the start of a new challenge over on the As you like it challenge blog, and this time our challenge is sponsored by Lawn fawn. This time, we’d love to see your favourite card sketches. I enjoy making cards with a layer of (usually white) cardstock, and then adding a strip of designer paper or coloured cardstock at the bottom or side of the card. This gives you plenty of space, and you can easily use a large image or even create a small scene.
I’ve used the digital stamp Jack and Patch with big flower (retired) from Lili of the valley on my card. I coloured the image with my Polychromos pencils, the Black glaze pen from Sakura, and a White Uni Posca pen. I then cut out the image. On a piece of white cardstock, I created a cloud background using the Mini cloud edges stencil (retired) from My favorite things and Versafine clair arctic ink. I used a large rectangular die from the Crea-nest-lies XXL 36 from Crealies to die-cut a stitched line along the left-hand side of the white cardstock. I then attached the image to the background using foam tape. I adhered a strip of pink designer paper Watermelon (Dots & Flowers) by Dini Design to the left side of the front of my card. Next, I adhered the piece with the image to my card using foam tape. Finally, I stamped a sentiment from the stamp set Simple script (retired) from Clearly besotted underneath the image.
Hallo, mijn tante was jarig en voor haar verjaardag heb ik dit doosje gemaakt met daarin een klein cadeautje. Ik heb het doosje versierd met de digitale stempel Surprise! van Lili of the valley. Ik heb de afbeelding ingekleurd met mijn Polychromos potloden, de Zwarte glaze pen van Sakura en een Witte Uni Posca pen. Ik heb de afbeelding daarna uitgeknipt. Ik heb een doosje gemaakt van wit karton en daarna heb ik op de voorkant van het doosje met een inkt blending brush Versafine clair arctic inkt op het doosje geblend. Ik heb de afbeelding met foamtape op het doosje geplakt. Op de achterkant van het doosje heb ik een klein envelopje geplakt, maar daar heb ik helaas geen foto van.
Hello, it was my aunt’s birthday and for her birthday I made this little box with a small gift inside. I decorated the box with the digital stamp Surprise! from Lili of the valley. I coloured the image using my Polychromos pencils, a Black glaze pen from Sakura, and a White Uni Posca pen. I then cut out the image.
I made the box from white cardstock and used a blending brush with Versafine clair arctic ink to blend colour onto the front of the box. I attached the image to the box using foam tape. On the back of the box, I stuck a small envelope, but unfortunately, I don’t have a photo of that.

Op deze laag heb ik met het Cloudy days stencils van Clearly besotted stamps en Peacock feathers Distress inkt een wolkenachtergrond gemaakt. Daarna heb ik heb ik met de stipjes van de stempelset Handletter Rainbow 2 van Craft emotions (out of business) met dezelfde kleur inkt op de achtergrond gestempeld. Ik heb de Grassy hills die-namics (retired) van My favorite things uit wit karton gestanst en daarna heb ik deze gekleurd met Twisted citron, Mowed lawn en Rustic wilderness Distress inkt. Ik heb het gras op de achtergrond geplakt en daarna heb ik deze op de tag geplakt. Ik heb de afbeelding met foamtape op de achtergrond geplakt. Ik heb een tekst van de stempelset Handletter Rainbow 2 van Craft emotions (out of business) op de kaart gestempeld. Ik heb een stukje wit karton gekleurd met een rood potlood en daarna heb ik hier met de Mini heart dies van Simon says stamp een aantal harten uit gestanst en deze heb ik op de kaart geplakt.

For this challenge, we’d like to know whether you prefer soft or bold colours. I think cards with soft colours are really beautiful, but when I try to make them myself, I always end up using bold colours instead. They add a nice, striking accent to your card, which I really enjoy—so I guess I’m definitely on Team Bold Colours.

Then, I stamped the dots from the Handletter Rainbow 2 stamp set by Craft Emotions (out of business) with the same ink colour on the background. I die-cut the Grassy hills die-namics (retired) from My favorite things from white cardstock, and then coloured them with Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn, and Rustic Wilderness Distress Ink. I glued the grass to the background, and then adhered this to the tag. I attached the image to the background using foam tape. I stamped a sentiment from the Handletter Rainbow 2 stamp set by Craft Emotions (out of business) onto the card. I coloured a piece of white cardstock with a red pencil and then used the Mini heart dies from Simon says stamp to die-cut several hearts, which I glued onto the card.
Binnen in de kaart heb ik nog een tekst van de stempelset Handletter Rainbow 2 van Craft emotions (out of business) gestempeld. Ook hier heb ik wat hartjes rondom de tekst geplakt die ik heb gestanst met de Mini heart dies van Simon says stamp.
Inside the card, I stamped another sentiment from the Handletter Rainbow 2 stamp set by Craft Emotions (out of business). I also added some hearts around the sentiment, which I die-cut using the Mini heart dies from Simon says stamp.
